01 — About
I'm a final-semester PhD scholar in Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, in the Smart Wireless Applications & Networking (SWAN) Lab under Prof. Sudip Misra, and a former Research Intern at Samsung R&D Institute India, Bangalore. My work lives in the resource-constrained middle where embedded hardware, networks and machine learning meet.
Over 6+ years I've taken systems from breadboard to production: HTTP and a full TLS 1.3 handshake carried over LoRa for remote and ad-hoc networks, a 4×4 and 8x8 LoRa MIMO testbed for higher throughput, condition monitoring for overhead cranes and rotating machinery, and a lightweight blockchain running on a microcontroller. Several are patented and some are in production.
I've led small teams on consulting and research projects for Tata Steel, Bokaro Steel Plant, Haldia Water Services, and CPHEEO resulting in end-to-end systems and their field validation. My aim always has been and still remains to build systems that are reliable, low-power, and genuinely useful to the people who depend on them.
02 — What I work on
Different projects, one throughline: making capable systems run on tiny, far-flung, power-starved hardware — and keeping them secure and maintainable once they ship.

Running AI inference on the edge. Staged model deployment for constrained devices on and single-board computers instead of relying on the Cloud to avoid latency and ensure security.
Retrofitting legacy plant equipment with modern sensing — vibration, temperature, electrical and gas monitoring wired into Industry 4.0/5.0 dashboards.
Trust at the edge — end-to-end TLS over constrained links, real-time intrusion detection and actuation, and tamper-proof logging via lightweight on-device blockchain.
From schematic and firmware to REST APIs, dashboards and deployment. Custom PCBs on one end, containerised cloud on the other — and everything that connects them.
Turning field data into decisions — instrumenting operations, automating manual process steps, and moving organisations from paperwork to data-driven control.
03 — Selected work
A few projects I've led or built end-to-end. Most are patented; several run in production at industrial sites and municipal utilities.
Tata Steel Downstream Products Ltd — Jamshedpur, India
Led a team of four to build and deploy a full-stack condition-monitoring system for Electric Overhead Travelling cranes — real-time vibration, temperature and electrical sensing streamed to plant-floor dashboards. Patented and running in production.
Siia - SWAN Lab, IIT Kharagpur, India
A transparent proxy that accepts ordinary HTTPS from a Wi-Fi device, carries the request across a LoRa backhaul, and completes a full end-to-end TLS 1.3 handshake at the far end — unlocking the web for remote and ad-hoc networks with no cellular coverage.
4×4 spatial multiplexing — SWAN Lab, IIT Kharagpur, India
Designed and evaluated a 4×4 MIMO system for LoRa that uses spatial multiplexing to exchange parallel data streams, pushing effective throughput well past a single link while keeping LoRa's low-power profile intact.
Haldia Water Services · CPHEEO, Govt. of India
A solar-powered, remotely configurable IoT node that streams domestic water-pipe pressure to the cloud for ML analysis — built for a CPHEEO / Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs project and deployed in the field.
Bokaro Steel Plant, India
Led a team of three to retrofit 4–20 mA Honeywell gas sensors and relay their readings over LoRaWAN to a central server — bringing decades-old industrial instrumentation online without ripping it out and replacing it.
Decentralised trust for IoT — SWAN Lab
A lightweight blockchain framework running entirely on a resource-constrained microcontroller, giving IoT nodes tamper-proof logging and data exchange with no dependence on cloud infrastructure.

05 — Experience
Applied research in IoT and edge computing at Samsung's India R&D centre, alongside the final stretch of my doctorate.
Research on IoT, IIoT, edge computing, LPWAN and condition monitoring. Led four industrial deployments and several patented systems end-to-end — from schematic and firmware through cloud dashboards to field validation with entities like Tata Steel and Haldia Water Services, India.
Architected edge-ML systems for a deep-tech startup: pet-immune human intruder detection integrated with existing CCTV DVRs — now commercialised — and modular machine & ambient condition monitoring reusable across warehouse and industrial settings.
Junior then Senior Research Fellow in the TribeConnect, a MeitY, Government of India sponsored research project. It aimed to build IoT + ML platform for tribal agriculture and healthcare in Chhattisgarh. I contributed by building rural LoRa networks, IoT gateways with optional load control, and full-stack dashboards with database replication for lossy links.
